I’ve been having some issues searching in Soundminer. I want to embed specific metadata keywords on certain favourite useful sounds I use a lot to be able to quickly find them. I’ve embedded the following as the keyword term ‘xxx’. When I search this in the search bar, nothing comes up. I must be doing something stupid and can’t work out what! Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Hi there, if its in the keyword field, first make sure that it is searchable… Do an advanced find (command shift F on mac) and search in keywords for your tag, if that works then…
Depending on the product you want to go to the menus and Modify Search Indexes, and add Keywords to this list. These are the fields that soundminer uses when you do a search in the toolbar.
Hope that helps
Thank you for all of your help. I’ve worked out the issue. I have an “All Sounds” master database and then various other ones for different sample libraries and my own stuff. The sounds i embedded with the keyword metadata were in my “TS Recordings” Databse (all TS recordings sounds are also in the All Sounds database) and i was keyword searching in my “All Sounds” databse and nothing was showing up. If i keyword search within the “TS Recordings Database” it all works perfectly. So my questions is, is this normal behaviour? Is there a way to ensure that embedded data is searchable in all databases or is it best practice to only embed metedata in the Master Database?
