Hi guys, I am currently working on some stuff that requires the audio to sound as if it is moving around the listener, and then somehow, it is supposed to transition below and above the listener as well. I have looked into some sound design for VR, notably ambisonics, but this is not the case of my current predicament. How do I achieve these sound transitions in a stereo environment? Any suggested resources to look into regarding this sort of thing?

From what I currently know, which is not very much, you can make a sound appear behind the listener by using mide-side processing and cutting the middle. How to affect the Y axis, I have no clue.
