I am hoping a new 5-pin XLR to dual 3-pin XLR cable will solve a problem I’ve been having with my rig. I am wondering if there is a specific cable that anyone would recommend. I’m not able to make my own right now. I’ve had a Rode one (usually for use with the NT4) break on me so I’m a little weary of it.
Thanks so much!
I find a connbox -with it’s thinner cable- quite essential to reduce handling noise, as is the Ambient XLR-tip when fixed to a boom. For cable my audio house uses Canare, I believe their Star Quad-type.
I have a Sennheiser 50/30 MS rig, that i use with the Rycote Ms AE Blimp and the rycote connbox 3 cable that is a little expensive but very usefull, this cable comes with a little box that can by hold with screws to the blimp and you have a one 5pin xlr connector out of the windshield and two 3 pin-xlr inside the blimp.
I do use a 5-pin XLR to splitter quite happily. I use a Remote Audio pair that I bought from Trew Audio. They’re not cheap, but they’re very well constructed, and have greatly simplified my recording rig. I’ve got two sets of them, so I can run two stereo rigs off of two cables.
